Ebook About “I was in free fall the moment we met, and I just keep falling.” Small town police officer Silas Sloane knows every resident of O’Leary, New York. He’s earned the love and respect of its citizens, though living under the small-town microscope grates on him. But though he’s good at his job, there’s one thing he’s not good at: commitments… Until Everett. Widower Everett Maior, O’Leary’s newest citizen, came to the small town kicking and screaming. He never wanted to become primary caretaker for his grandfather and has no interest in living the provincial life. Snarky and superstitious, he’s proficient at keeping people at a distance... Until he lays eyes on Silas. Strange disappearances are plaguing O’Leary, though, even as Silas and Everett find their growing attraction undeniable. Can they find their way to a future together, even as ghosts from the past threaten to tear them apart?Book The Fall (Love in O'Leary Book 1) Review :
Sometimes a story just sweeps you up, rolls you over and tosses you around like the tide and then…you fall! Hard! I fell hard for this book. I think this story cements even further, why I am so in love with this genre. That two independent, strong, intelligent men can show their vulnerability and that the author is so adept at making you FEEL it, is why I love it the most. Stories like this one just melt my heart! There’s sure a lot going on here in this tiny town! I picked this book up without having ever read another May Archer story and I feel like there are many more I want to read now. I want to know about every single person in this fictional small town. And THAT says something about how the author drew me in completely. I want to live in the sweet little town and be friends with Ev and Si. And just reading the way that Si says Ev’s name when he’s about to apologize, I swear my heart nearly broke. I laughed so hard, so much, during this story. (Ugly cried too tho) I love the snappy, smart, sexy banter between the main characters and the side characters too. It’s all so real and believable. It’s smoking hot too so don’t worry! Oh and throw in some mystery and murder and mayhem and bam you had me at chapter 1. I’ll tell you why I really love the M/M genre, it’s because I don’t get to see it in real life, my hetero life that is, men being vulnerable and sweet to each other. This is a revelation to me and why I was so drawn to these types of stories in the first place. I am completely head over heels with so many authors and the characters they bring to life in my mind and May Archer, you are one more now I’ve added to my list of faves. I can’t wait to read more stories and fall more in love with the town of O’Leary! I wanted to like this more than I did. There are some beautifully written passages and some lovely turns of phrase, but ultimately I found the plot and time line way too rushed. In a way, I understood Everet, the widower's, point of view, better than Silas'. Si, the cop, was ostensibly 38/9 but he felt more like he was in his late twenties. Actually, even just switching those two facts - making Ev 39 and Si 29 would have made more sense of each character. The plot felt really rushed and too Mary Sue for me. I read it from beginning to end, so that's an automatic 3 star rating for me, but I doubt I will look for others in this series.
