I enjoyed the first 2 books in this series but this one is just PAINFUL. Everett is such a huge wuss. I mean, he might as well tattoo "Welcome" on his forehead because he is nothing but a doormat. Of his own making, by the way, no one forced him to be the way he is. He is so deep in the closet, which makes zero sense considering his best friends/business partners are all openly and unashamedly gay.*Mild Spoilers*I get that he feels guilty about his ex-wife, but let's face it, she was the one that pushed that relationship the entire time. He was just along for the ride, which brings us all back to him having no spine whatsoever. My point is, she knew what he was like and that was probably the reason she pursued him so aggressively, so she would always be in control of their lives. He is just too much of a milksop to figure that out! He is truly pathetic. So much so that I have no sympathy for him at all.Watson, on the other hand, is great and can seriously do better! I never leave reviews for books because I want readers to decide for themselves if they like a book or not. But this book was so frustrating I felt a need to. The premise of the book was good and I love K.M Neuhold and the four bears construction. But Hardwood was a miss. 80% of the book was Everett in the closet and Watson internal musing of if this would last. You had only the last chapter of them actual being in a relationship. I totally get the whole coming out in your on time. But the entire book. Again I love this series. But Hardwood fell short for me. Will I recommend?? Yes. Just so you can keep up with the series.
